The Story
Lunerata “Lune” Bridth, heir to the Havanellan throne, is sent to the court of a rival kingdom, the homeland of her deceased mother, to help negotiate a long-awaited peace treaty. But once there, she finds that things are not as simple as she’d been lead to believe. In this foreign land, there are enemies, allies, traitors, secrets, and a plot that could destroy Lune’s world as she knows it and plunge both kingdoms into war.
Join Lune and her friends as they set out on an adventure filled with dragons, assassins, mysteries, magic, and the strange ties of family.
About Jade Torch
Jade Torch had its beginning over 10 years ago in 2007. As a kid, I loved stories of dragons and adventure, but I didn’t so much like heroes who went around slaying dragons. I wanted heroes who rode them. So, through this passion for fantasy, adventure, reading, and hours of playing pretend outside, the story of Princess Lune, her dragon Soni, and their comrades and kingdom started to take shape.
The story has been started, scrapped, and restarted so many times over the years, I’ve lost count. I sought to find a story that did justice to these characters that I love so much. Several years ago, I finally settled on one that I felt was the right story for my characters. It’s a story of family, responsibility, and the pains of growing up with great weight on one’s shoulders.
I plan to complete three novels in this initial Jade Torch saga, and then, Lord willing, continue on telling stories about this world that has continued to expand over the years to fill the wastelands of my mind. Trust me, there are a lot of stories to tell.
These books will likely be for readers 12+.
About Me
I am a freelance illustrator, writer, and born-again Christian.
The kind of stories I tell matter to me. I want to create stories and characters that kids and young people can look to for hope and positive role models. Today, I think kids books and entertainment media have become a breeding ground for bad role models, and I want parents to be able to trust that my books won’t have that. I want the heroes of my books to be relatable to kids but to also inspire them to be the best they can be–valuing truth, responsibility, choosing what’s right over what’s easy, and learning the hard lessons along their journeys.
I am a Christian first and a creative second. This has been the prevailing theme of my work and attitude over the last several years of my life, and longer. Honestly. I don’t always succeed, but my goal is to honor Christ in all I do.
